The 10 Most Expensive Home Listings Ever in the U.S. by www.SixWise.com With talk of the U.S. housing slump hitting the headlines
seemingly every day, the last thing you'd expect to hear about
is a booming real estate sector where sellers can name their
price -- and are actually turning away buyers.
Yet, when it comes to the top echelons of residential homes,
those listing not for $1 million or even $10 million but $60
million and beyond, this is exactly the case.
Many of these homes are so exclusive that they're never publicly
listed.
To date, the most expensive residential home ever sold in
the United States (which happened earlier this year) cost
$103 million. The home, a 40-acre estate in East Hampton,
New York, was purchased by investor Ron Baron.
However, some of the homes listed below are poised to break
this record. If you're at all interested in the homes of the
rich and famous (or at least the rich), you will be blown
away by the extravagance that follows.

The Beverley Hills Mansion Once Owned by William Randolph
Hearst
List Price: $165 million
Location: Beverly Hills, California
Owned by financier Leonard Ross, this 72,000-square-foot
Mediterranean-type home sits on a 6.25-acre compound.
First built in 1927 (three additional houses have since
been added), the house boasts an Art Deco-style disco,
22-foot ceilings in the living room, a two-story wood-paneled
library and a series of ponds that cascade into a swimming
pool.

Hala Ranch
List Price: $135 million
Location: Aspen, Colorado
This 56,000-square-foot home was built in 1991 for
the family of Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the former ambassador
to the United States from Saudi Arabia. It has 15 bedrooms,
16 bathrooms, and, if you like to entertain, enough
room for a 450-person event. No need to go elsewhere
for a haircut, there's also a private barbershop and
beauty salon.
Other notable features include an indoor swimming pool
and fountain, an on-site gas station and car wash, a
stable, sculpture garden, cross-country skiing trails
and even its own sewage treatment plant.

Maison de L'Amitie
List Price: $125 million
Location: Palm Beach, Florida
Donald Trump owns this 80,000-square-foot refurbished
mansion, which he bought for $41.25 million at a bankruptcy
auction. It has its own ballroom, conservatory, eight
full bathrooms each in a different color of marble,
and a 100-foot-long swimming pool, plus it has 475 feet
of oceanfront property.

Fleur de Lys
List Price: $125 million
Location: Los Angeles, California
This 41,000-square-foot limestone mansion is modeled
after Vaux le Vicomte, the 17th-century palace of Louis
XIV's finance minister, Nicolas Fouquet. It features
a 100-person ballroom, 22-karat gold-leaf moldings and
extra protection in case of an earthquake -- the house
is actually sitting on rollers for this very reason.

Lake Tahoe Abode
List Price: $100 million
Location: Zephyr Cove, Nevada, overlooking Lake Tahoe
This 38,000-square-foot home, owned by Joel Horowitz,
former CEO of Tommy Hilfiger Corp., and his wife, Ann,
sits on 210 acres, complete with a private lake. The
dining room has 300-year-old French plank flooring,
and the entryway has marble floors modeled after those
in the New York Public Library. This house is being
sold furnished.

Portabello Estate
List Price: $75 million
Location: Corona del Mar, California
This modern-designed 30,000-square-foot home sits on
a triple oceanfront lot, overlooking the Pacific Ocean
(with private beach access). The shape of the home resembles
a nautilus shell, and it has eight bedrooms and 10 full
baths.

Three Ponds
List Price: $75 million
Location: Bridgehampton, New York
The 60-acre farmland lot on which Three Ponds sits
has 14 gardens, a guest house, a 75-foot-long swimming
pool and a USGA-rated Rees Jones golf course. The house
itself is covered in wood paneling and other luxurious
finishes.

This triplex tops off one of New York's most elegant

This seven-bedroom estate has panoramic ocean views
and seven acres of land, which includes a bluff, two
